Participants will learn to create expressive surface designs on slabs through the traditional Japanese technique of Nerikomi, which involves combining different clay bodies in various formations (stacking, folding, checkering) to create complex designs and patterns. This workshop blends creativity with surface experimentation to produce richly tactile and visually dynamic pieces. Open to all skill levels. Clay and tools supplied, but feel free to bring your own!
We will provide LB Blend and B Mix with Sand to use. If you would like to blend more types of clay, please provide them yourself.
This is a handbuilding workshop for all levels led by Katia Stewart at Sherman Oaks.
